XBoard tournaments
This page lists results of different engines that participate in an XBoard tournament. We will try to obtain a rating based on the tournament results. Please look below for the elo ranking of the different engines.
The tournaments are being played with following rules:
- No thinking on the opponents time.
- 30 moves / 30 minute for first 30 moves, thereafter, 30 minutes KO.
- 2 games per match, one for each colour.
- Total memory allocation per engine < 512 MB (including program size).
- Total disk space allocation for engine source, opening book and endgame tablebases < 10GB.
- Maximum processors usage: 2.
- Xboard compatible.
- Running on Mac OS X 10.3 or 10.4 with G4 processor
- Playing an invalid move causes game to be lost.
- Any violation of above rules causes game to be lost.
- Engine may be improved in between consecutive games.
- Source code must be available. (I need to compile them before I can include them in the tournament.) Exceptions can be made but need to be discussed first.

- Most played games will be available from the download pages.
- The script used for the tournament will be available from the download pages.
- The detailed result will be available from the download pages. These are included in excel sheets.
- The engine (without books etc..) will be available from the download pages. The reason for the books not being downloadable is that they consume a lot of space.
- The calculation for the ranking will be available from the download pages. These are included in excel sheets.

Preselection round, 10 min KO games. Used to calculate indicative start ratings. Completed 01/11/2004.

Based on an estimated rating for the Crafty engine, the other ratings can be calculated. For each engine, the rating will be adjusted after each tournament.
The crafty 19.17 engine approximatly calculates 500 K nodes per second. This means that the crafty ranking can be compared to the ranking on a windows machine.
Note: The calculate factor will also be adjusted to 24 once 1900 is reached and to 16 once 2100 is reached, it will be lowered by 4 for every 12 games until a factor of 12 is reached. New entries after these will be entered at 1400.
